Jakarta composite added 1.229 points (+0.019%) to 6,603.798. LQ45 declined 0.48% to 945.59. There were 31.306 billion shares traded worth of Rp20.416 trillion, including transaction of Rp7.535 trillion in negotiation market. 240 shares rose while 272 declined and 162 unchanged. Foreign investors sold a net Rp155.2 billion in regular market.
Consumer confidence index in the country increased 5.1 points to 118.5 in November from 113.4 in the previous month, amid easing COVID-19 restrictions to contain the spread of the coronavirus. It was the highest reading since January 2020.
Indonesia has cancelled the plan to apply restrictions of public activities (PPKM) Level 3 at national scale. According to Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, COVID-19 situation in the country has considerably improved and the pandemic has been put under control.
Earlier today, Bekasi local government announced the Omicron variant had been detected in four patients. However, the ministry of health denied and ensured that until now, there is no omicron variant in Indonesia.
According to JISDOR released Wednesday afternoon, Rupiah strengthened 60 points (+0.42%) at 14,348 while spot rate climbed 20 points (+0.14%) at 14,355.
Stocks in Asia and Europe continue to rebound as fears surrounding Omicron eased following the latest news about the Covid variant.
Meanwhile, Hong Kong stocks lagged with Chinese developer back in the spotlight as the list of Chinese developers warning they may not be able to meet upcoming financial obligations is growing.
The yield on the 10-year US Treasury note dipped to 1.46% as the price of the benchmark debt instrument rose.
Some key events this week include U.S. inflation data for November, to be released Friday, expected to show a surge of 6.8% from the same month last year.
Rebounds in oil prices paused with Brent crude futures slipped 26 cents (-0.34%) to $75.18 and U.S WTI declined 33 cents (-0.46%) at $71.72 a barrel.
