Indonesia Stock Market Update
Jakarta composite rose 16.069 points (+0.24%) to 6,699.346. LQ45 increased 0.65% to 965.139. There were 25.896 billion shares traded worth of Rp13.677 trillion, including transaction of Rp1.7 trillion in negotiation market. Foreign investors purchased net Rp204.61 billion in regular market. 228 shares rose while 278 declined and 166 unchanged.
Six sectors rose while foreign investors recorded net sell in BUKA, EXCL and ASII.
According to JISDOR released Thursday afternoon, Rupiah weakened 8 points (-0.06%) at 14,280 while spot rate slipped 10 points (-0.07%) to 14,265.
Shares in Asia were mixed on Thursday after U.S. Federal Reserve’s latest meeting indicated the possibility of faster asset tapering.
In Europe, stocks were higher with investors continue to monitor the acute Covid crisis in the region this week amid rising infections that have prompted a handful of countries to introduce new Covid restrictions.
On the data front, U.S. data released on Wednesday ahead of Thursday’s holiday showed that the GDP grew 2.1% quarter-on-quarter in the third quarter. The data also showed that 199,000 initial jobless claims were filed throughout the week, the lowest level since 1969.
Chinese authorities are working with U.S. counterparts to prevent Chinese companies being delisted from U.S. stock exchanges as a lengthy dispute about auditing standards rumbles on.
U.S. equity and bond markets closed Thursday on Thanksgiving Day.
Oil was steady in Asia after OPEC said a planned coordinated release of reserves may swell a crude surplus expected early next year. Brent slipped 7 cents (-0.09%) at $82.18 per barrel and U.S WTI slipped 16 cents (-0.20%) at $78.22 a barrel.
